The Tec-Bond® P-Series is a room-temperature curing, microencapsulated pre-applied fastener adhesive and thread locker for threaded fasteners of various sizes, materials, and finishes. Upon installation, shear forces rupture the microcapsules to rapidly bond mating surfaces, providing consistent torque performance and sealing potential leak paths.
Tec-Bond® P-30, P-80, and P-85 may be used as direct alternatives to Precote® 30, Precote® 80, and Precote®85, respectively. The Tec-Bond® P-Series of thread locking products are room-temperature curing, microencapsulated adhesives. They can be applied to male or female threaded fasteners of virtually all sizes, configurations, compositions, and finishes.
Tec-Bond P-Series contains a microencapsulated, reactive element that is suspended in a quick-curing, solvent-borne resin. The shearing forces caused by installation of the fastener to the mating part release the activator to allow curing of the resin matrix. The resulting chemical reaction rapidly bonds the surfaces, locking parts together and sealing leak paths.

Performance, Advantages and Benefits
Microencapsulated Chemistry: Reactive elements remain dormant until the fastener is installed. Shearing forces at installation release the activator, producing a rapid, reliable chemical bond that locks parts together and seals leak paths.
Consistent, Predictable Torque Values: Engineered for tight torque control across production runs. The P-Series delivers repeatable break and prevail torque performance, reducing variability on the assembly line.
Fluid and Temperature Resistance: Resists most automotive fluids including oil, water, antifreeze, and gasoline. High-temperature grades (P-80, P-85) maintain performance up to 392°F / 200°C.
Production Ready: Available in viscosities suited for a broad range of production coating equipment. No heat or primers required, simplifying integration into existing manufacturing processes.
What is the difference between P-30, P-80, and P-85?
P-30 (Yellow) is a low-strength grade suited for fasteners that require disassembly during service. P-80 (Pink) is a high-strength, high-temperature grade for permanent or semi-permanent assemblies in demanding thermal environments. P-85(Turquoise) provides medium strength with enhanced torque control, ideal for tension-sensitive applications.
Do Tec-Bond® P-Series products require primers or heat to cure?
No. All P-Series grades are room-temperature curing and require no heat or primers. Curing is initiated by the mechanical shearing forces generated during fastener installation.
How quickly do P-Series products achieve fixture?
Under typical conditions, fixture is achieved in less than one hour. Full cure at room temperature is reached within 72 hours.
Can Tec-Bond® P-Series be used as a replacement for Precote® products?
Yes. Tec-Bond® P-30, P-80, and P-85 may be used in place of Precote® 30, Precote®80, and Precote® 85, respectively.
What fastener types and sizes are compatible with Tec-Bond® P-Series?
P-Series can be applied to male or female threaded fasteners of virtually all sizes, configurations, compositions, and finishes. No special substrate preparation is required.
*With as many new finishes and post treatments available, it is recommended performance be evaluated for your specific application.
Is Tec-Bond® P-Series suitable for production coating?
Yes. Each grade is available in viscosities compatible with a broad range of production coating equipment, making P-Series well suited for high-volume pre-application at Tectorius licensed service centers.
